Doubt

March 5, 2009

I practiced 90 minutes of meditation this morning, feeling great.  Went to work (my job as artist) and after two hours felt consumed by doubt.  The list is long.  I swear my brain can find a million things to doubt about my life and decisions in less than a second.  While painting, I was listening to a Podcast with Deepak Chopra.  He seemed subdued and doubtful about the state of the world, maybe consigned is a better word.   This did not help the descent I was feeling.

After mentally thrashing about for awhile,  I sat down to meditate and thrashed there for awhile.   Looked through some books for consoling, even though the more I sit, the more I know I have the answers.  Consoled from what? That I lost control of my brain again?

After driving myself suffiently crazy, I did a 30 minute chant.  Although I don’t recommend self torture, this is the time when you really see the power of chanting.  I feel my frequencies come back to a level of joy and contentment.

Houseguests

June 12, 2008

I just got back from yoga.  My yoga teacher is fond of saying (and I never get tired of being reminded), “Your thoughts are like houseguests.  You can ask them to leave.”

Drudge thinking to Magic thinking

May 7, 2008

Your power is as much in your words as your actions. Every little phrase, even one negative word toward yourself diminishes your strength and energy flow towards your hearts desires.

It’s more than a matter of suppressing those voices. Re-frame it completely.

Instead of waking up drudge thinking: “my to do list so long, how am I ever going to get it all done, what a boring day of just checking things off my list”, droning on and on and on, visualizing your day of rushing around, in the car, out of the car………….switch to magic thinking: “I see magic everywhere, I am so grateful for a busy day of untold happy surprises, who knows who I’ll meet, who knows the amazing conversations I’ll have”, feel the energy of anticipating happy surprises, feel the gratitude of such a beautiful day.

Speaking of busy days: even though we dream of days with no schedules, no to do lists, our brains are healthier with a schedule.  Sad but true.  Your brain will be even healthier yet if you view your schedule with joy and gratitude and possibilities of magic!
